Since I fell down the rabbit hole of Pinterest, I haven't watched much home & garden television.
Then, because of Pinterest, I found out about, "The Fixer Upper" on HGTV.
There is several layers of this show, you're gonna love it, if you haven't heard of it yet.
Hosts / power couple, Chip and Johanna Gains plus their 4 cute kids, live near Waco, Texas which is just a couple of hours from me. Johanna is an interior designer while Chip is the home remodeling carpenter. Chip was flipping houses while going to college there in Waco when he met Johanna. That impressed her, the two are a great match. The show is based on families in the Waco area, having a budget and want their own Fixer Upper house.
They take some of the ugliest houses and flip them into spectacular homes.
Here are some of my favorites:
Here is another layer. They bought and flipped the house above and turned it into a bed and breakfast, named it "The Magnolia House". You can stay there, it's SOOOOO CUUUTE!!!
Here is the handsome couple. Jo is so graceful, patient and creative. She is so tender and loving with her kids. Chip tests her patients with his shenanigans in every show. If Chip isn't doing demo, or reno, he is eating, juggling or acting like a fool, just trying so hard to make Jo laugh. She has done multiple cart wheels in one house before she brought in the furniture. You never know what's going to happen, it is not your typical home improvement shows.
Below is more of their wonderful work. I love her use of neutrals with pops of wood, white and black, fabulous light fixtures, plants everywhere, busted out walls, rich wood floors, subway tiles and SHIPLAP!!!
Here are some great uses of raw natural wood.
Another layer of this show is that Johanna and Chip have a store called "Magnolia Market", that sells home decor items and antiques that she uses in the flips. At the end of last year, they decided to buy this old mill property with giant silos in Waco to move their store to. Their biggest flip and it is flipping amazing.
Not only do they have their store located in the building on the left, but they have a garden area and the little building in the center, I think they are turning into a bakery. They also sell real estate, have their own book, Magnolia T-Shirts, coffee mugs and more. Johanna also started her own furniture line as well that I LOOOOOVE! Click on the links to see for yourself.
Below are some shots of their store "Magnolia Home".
